Edward Curtis (American, 1868-1952). Orotone gold-tone photograph titled "Piki Maker" depicting a Native American woman cooking. Signed in negative along the lower right. Piki is a paper-thin cornbread baked in colored sheets. The batter is spread on the baking stone with the bare hand, before being quickly folded and laid in the basket at the baker's left. Sight; height: 13 1/2 in x width: 10 3/4 in. Framed; height: 14 3/4 in x width: 12 in x depth: 1/2 in.
