19th century Japanese lacquered wood Buddhist shrine. With etched metal accents and carved floral and foliate motifs throughout the gilt facade, including two larger flowers along the upper third of the doors. Carved diamond-shaped pattern along the front of the base and carved scrollwork along the upper edge of the doors. Inscribed along the bottom. The shrine is without a figure. Provenance: Nakashian-O'Neil, St. Paul, Minnesota; Private Minnesota Collection. Height: 15 1/4 in x width: 11 in x depth: 5 1/4 in.
