Birch has won the 2007 Louis Vuitton Asian Art award and is represented internationally by London gallery, Ben Brown Fine Arts. His work has been featured and reviewed in many international publications, including Artforum, The Guardian, The International Herald Tribune, Time Out and the New York Times. Birch has had solo exhibitions in Beijing, Miami, and Singapore and has participated in group shows at the Hong Kong Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo, and has been included in the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art’s (LACMA) permanent collection.
