Large Chinese Tang dynasty ceramic pottery figure in the form of a bactrian two-humped camel with saddlebags, ca. 618-907 CE. With a straw-colored glaze and a wooden stand. The camel stands on all four legs on a rectangular base with saddlebags brimming with goods. A mug and a bird spill out from either side. The camel's head is held high. A similar example is held in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art (accession no. 75.84). (Not including stand) height: 14 in x width: 12 1/2 in x depth: 8 in.
