Chinese imperial Qianlong cloisonne incense joss stick holder. Teal blue ground with an interlacing design of blooming pink lotus flowers amid profuse green, blue, and red scrollwork. With a central bronze container in the form of a fruit, possibly a pomegranate or a lotus. With an unusual scalloped gilt metal edge accentuating the central fruit-shaped container. An extremely similar example can be found in the National Palace Museum (Gugong) collection (ref. no. Gu 118616). Height: 1 1/2 in x diameter: 4 1/2 in.

A BLUE OVERLAY SNOWFLAKE GLASS ‘CHILONG’ INCENSE HOLDER, QIANLONG MARK AND POSSIBLY LATE IN THE PERIOD A BLUE OVERLAY SNOWFLAKE GLASS ‘CHILONG’ INCENSE HOLDER, QIANLONG MARK AND POSSIBLY LATE IN THE PERIOD China, c. 1780-1860. The blue overlay neatly carved against the snowflake ground to depict two sinuous chilong writhing along the handle and issuing vines, the mouth and base of the handle encircled by a blue collar. The base wheel-cut with a four-character mark Qianlong nianzhi. Provenance: From a noted French private collection, acquired in the London trade. Condition: Good condition with minor wear, a small repair to the mouth, the base smoothened, and expected manufacturing irregularities such as air bubbles and other minor flaws inside the glass.
