Joseph Stalin Original Wirephoto (1953) Original vintage glossy 10 x 8 AP wirephoto of six close-up studies of Joseph Stalin, taken at May Day ceremonies in 1949, published by the Associated Press in 1953 on news that the Soviet leader had suffered a paralytic stroke and was in a coma. The images show Stalin in a jovial mood—saluting, waving, and tipping his cap. Retains the printed caption affixed to the reverse, along with an "Associated Press Newsphoto" credit stamp. In very good to fine condition, with creasing to the corners and margins, a small tear to the right edge, and a tear to the caption.
