Album of 48 antique portraits (Disderi, Pierre Petit, Numa Blanc, Mayer et Pierson, etc. etc.) including Napoleon III, Empress Eugénie, Prince Imperial, Prince Napoleon, Comte de Chambord, Duc de Morny, Général Pélissier, Maréchal de Mac-Mahon, Général Berthier, Maréchal Canrobert, Cavour, Pius IX, Victor Hugo, Rachel, Victor Hart, etc. In-8 square, red chagrin, cold-stamped ribbed spine, handsome cold-stamped decoration on covers with gilt clasps (the movable parts are missing), gilt and chased edges. Good condition.

KUBIN (Alfred). Kritiker. Munich, Georg Müller, 1920. Large folio (59 x 47 cm), on ff. in publisher's cloth folder with flaps, title label. First edition of this album comprising 18 lithographed plates, all matted and titled. 1 title page, 1 page of justification + table. One of 100 copies of the first edition numbered on Japon paper and signed in blue pencil by Kubin. A superb album in an expressionist, caricatured vein, in which Kubin attacks critics with a gallery of monstrous, smug and grotesque characters. Worn dust jacket, torn flaps, only a few foxing marks on a few mats, boards intact. Rare.
