FRANCISCO DE PAULA ESCRIBANO LIÑÁN, (Seville, 1820 - 1900). "Saint Ignatius", 1847. Oil on canvas. It retains its period frame. Signed and dated in the lower right area. Measurements: 97,5 x 72 cm; 114 x 87 cm (frame). Francisco Escribano was a Spanish painter active in the second half of the 19th century, specialising in religious themes in the style of the 17th century. He was also a notable painter of historical subjects. Although few signed works by this artist are known, we know that he frequently made copies of Spanish Baroque masters, mainly Murillo. Francisco Escribano is currently represented in the Museo Carmen Thyssen in Malaga and the Museo de Bellas Artes in Seville, as well as in various important private collections, including the Cajasol Collection.
