Description
Pair of tibores; China, 20th century. Enameled bronze. Measurements: 23 x 19 cm (x2). Pair of tibors made in enameled bronze, ornamented with elements of vegetal character among which peonies stand out. The tibor or mei-ping, of which we see here a particularly clean and essential form, is a vase of inverted ovoid belly with lid, destined to contain the first flowering branches of the cherry tree. It is a typology widely used in the production of Chinese ceramics and porcelain, both for the domestic market and for export.
