Modeled after the Luxor obelisk, ca. 1850. Patinated bronze. Black Belgian marble base. Size: 66 x 17 x 17 cm. This obelisk reproduces the original of the temple of Luxor in ancient Thebes, placed since 1836 in the center of the Place de la Concorde in Paris, France. The obelisk, dating from the 13th century BC, is 23 meters high. C., is 23 meters high and weighs 222 tons, to which must be added the 240 tons of the pedestal. The monument is made of pink granite from Aswan. In the same quarries, an unfinished obelisk was found that attracted the attention of archaeologists.
