Description

English teapot, ca. 1900. Silver. Handle and handle in ebonized wood. With hallmarks on one side, marks on the reverse of origin and silversmith: "London. Goldsmith & Silversmith, 1902". Slight flaws in the handle. Measurements: 15,5 x 25 x 11 cm. British teapot from the late Victorian period. Made in silver except for the handle and the knob in ebonized wood, it has a half galloned body. The gallons ornament the belly as a sheath. They are worked in relief, and the same motif is repeated on the lid. The design sought a contrast of materials and shapes, between the organically inspired ornamentation of the silver body and the angular section of the wooden handle.
