Algirdas Steponavicius was a Lithuanian painter, graphic artist, book illustrator and writer. He was born in Kaunas, where he lived until 1939. He comes from a family of publishers. Father - Juozapas Steponavicius - active printer, publisher and journalist. He spent most of his life in Vilnius. in 1950 graduated from the Vilnius State Art Institute, Department of Graphics. in 1951 married artist-graphic, book illustrator Birute Janina Zilyte. Died in 1996 in his workshop in Uzupy. Buried in Vilnius Jerusalem cemetery.
