Heinrich Vogeler 1872 - 1942, German painter, graphic artist, architect, writer, Representative of Art Nouveau and member of the Worpswede artists' colony Ex-libris, commercial print around 1897, dimensions approx. 15 x 10.5 cm, sheet made for his brother Eduard, motif with heraldic references, man in knight's armor, resting his arms on two coats of arms, the right arm resting on the coat of arms of Bremen, the birthplace of Edurard Vogler. The left arm rests on a fantasy coat of arms showing a cockerel in a field, a reference to the brother's profession as a farmer. A bird as an allusion to the origin of the name "Vogeler".
