VERY IMPORTANT AND EXCEPTIONAL TABLEAU "DAMRAK AMSTERDAM" by Henri Ferdinand BELLAN (1870-1922) Framed oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right "H.F : Bellan 1921". Size: 174 x 208 cm Probably a salon painting. Damage and restoration Henri Ferdinand Bellan was born in Paris in 1870. He first studied with François Feyen-Perrin, then entered the École des Beaux-Arts, where he attended classes with Léon Bonnat and Alfred Roll. He exhibited for the first time at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1888, then every year between 1896 and 1914. 1902 marked the beginning of success and recognition for Ferdinand Bellan. That year, he won the Prix Raigecourt-Goyon, then a travel grant, which enabled him to perfect his knowledge by studying the Italian and Spanish masters in particular. In 1903, the city of Paris bought his paintings Angélus and Prière d'un soir.
