Artist information: actually Ferdinand Victor Eugéne Delacroix, French painter (1798 Charenton-Saint-Maurice/Paris to 1863 Paris), scion of a family of cabinetmakers, family moved to Bordeaux, 1805 moved back to Paris, from 1815 studied in Guérin's studio, 1816-24 studied at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris, 1827 produced 17 lithographs on Goethe's Faust, 1831 created his most famous painting "Liberty for the People" in commemoration of the July Revolution, travelled to Morocco and visited the Sultan, 1855 retrospective at the Universal Exhibition, appointed Commander of the Legion of Honour and member of the École des Beaux-Arts from 1857, source: u.Thieme-Becker and Wikipedia.
