LLUÍS LLEÓ (Barcelona, 1961). "Morpho's dream", New York, 2017. Mixed media on paper. Signed and dated in the lower margin. Measurements: 100 x 80 cm; 115 x 91 cm (frame). Lluís Lleó lives and works, currently between the intensely cosmopolitan city of New York and the small village of Rupiá, in Baix Empordà. His work, of an eminently abstract character, presents important links with conceptualism and European informalism, as can be seen in the piece we now present, where the title, the written word, is an integral part of the work, which is characterized, on the other hand, by its gestural, material character, and by its chromatic containment. Lluís Lleó began his exhibition career in 1988, and has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions of international scope. He has also participated in some of the most important art fairs on the international scene. His work is held in museums and collections such as the Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofia, the Perez Art Museum Miami, the collection of the Fundació La Caixa, the Collection Fank for International Settlements in Basel, the Maison Particuliere in Brussels, the World Trade Center in Barcelona, the Fundació Godia in Barcelona and the Nagoya Art Museum in Japan.

Published in "Juan Serra painter", plate XXII, by Juan Cortés, Edit. Argos. Barcelona, 1942. Measurements: 50 x 66 cm. Joan Serra Melgosa was formed in the School of the Fish market of Barcelona, where he was a disciple of Francesc Labarta. Member of the group The Evolutionists, he exhibits for the first time in 1918. In 1925 he traveled to Madrid, where he became especially interested in El Greco, and two years later he spent a few months in Paris. He was closely linked to the Sala Parés in Barcelona, where he exhibited regularly since 1927. He exhibited in the main Spanish capitals, in addition to participating in exhibitions in Paris, London, Pittsburgh, Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Caracas. His awards include the Barcelona City Council award in 1931 and the Jaume Morera gold medal in 1950. He is represented in the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona and in the Museum of Fine Arts of Lérida.

RAMÓN CAPMANY MONTANER (Canet de Mar, 1899 - Barcelona, 1992). "Female portrait". Oil on canvas. Signed in the upper left corner. Measurements: 73 x 60 cm; 87,5 x 74,5 cm (frame). Painter, engraver and bibliophile, he was a disciple of Francesc Labarta in the School of the Fish Market of Barcelona. As a painter he was mainly dedicated to landscapes (especially of old Barcelona and Montseny), with a naturalistic style, faithful to nature, detailed and with fine strokes. He had important individual and collective exhibitions in Barcelona, Paris, Madrid, Munich and London, among other European cities. His awards include the Travelling Exhibition in New York (1926), an exhibition that brought him international fame, and the gold medal in the competition "Barcelona seen by its artists" (1931). He exhibited regularly at the Sala Parés, and was a member of the group Los Evolucionistas until 1923. He also collaborated in many of the bibliophile editions of the publishing house Montaner y Simón, a prominent company to which the artist was linked by family ties, always using etching, generally in color. He is represented in the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona.
