"The Drinker", Mariano Yzquierdo Vivas (Port-au-Prince, Cuba, 1893 - Madrid, Spain, 1985), Cuban - Spanish School of the 19th - 20th centuries Oil on canvas, framed. Canvas measurements: 104 x 99 cm, framed measurements: 125 x 119 cm. Provenance: Madrid mansion, private collection, El Viso. Magnificent oil on canvas by the Cuban painter Yzquierdo y Vivas (Port-au-Prince, Cuba, 1893- Madrid, 1985). Spanish painter. He trained at the San Jorge School of Fine Arts in Barcelona and the San Fernando School of Madrid. Since 1922 he has been director of the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts of La Coruña, a city in which he is a member of the Royal Provincial Academy of Fine Arts Nuestra Señora del Rosario. In 1940 he won the position of professor of artistic drawing in Madrid and became director of sections X and XII of the School of Arts and Crafts of the aforementioned city. He specializes in contemporary and historical themes and examples of his work are preserved in institutions such as the Army Museum or the Zaragoza Military Academy. He participated in the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts, in which he obtained various awards, such as third medals in the 1922 and 1945 editions and a second medal in 1950. He also obtained first medal in the 1949 Autumn Salon, the same year. who receives the Award from the Ministry of National Education.
