Saint Jerome the Hermit, Bolognese Italian school, 17th century Oil on canvas. Great Saint Jerome hermitage in the desert during his brief period of penance, holding before him a small carving of Christ on the Cross. Next to him appear his most distinctive attributes: the skull, a symbol of penitence along with the crucifix, and the stone he holds in the other hand; the book, and the lion. Measurements without frame: 147 x 111 cm. Framed measurements: 156 x 118 cm.
