The spirit of this sculpture is undoubtedly to symbolize power by using the stylistic canons of the diminutive mask adorning the staff and the animal skin synonymous with strength. Partly-printed DS, one page, 7 x 4.5, October 10, 1814. Pay order issued to the Treasurer of the City of New York, in part: "Pay A. Smyth Two hundred Dollars for Paving Sullivan Street." Signed at the conclusion by Clinton as mayor. In fine condition. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.

He was Marshal General des Logis of various armies, Grand Cross of the Order of Saint-Louis, deputy to the Minister of War in 1758, then Governor of Aire and Commander-in-Chief of the Province of Artois. A good copy.
