Description

Maria Collin (1942-) Bouquet Oil/self-technique on canvas, 29 x 29 cm (frame). Signed at the bottom. Image reproduced in the catalog from the exhibition "Maria Collin. Grenier à sel à Bellême" (October 2023). Purchase from the artist. * Maria Collin was born in 1942 in Wadowice. In 1960 she began her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, under the direction of Artur Nacht Samborski. In 1965 she settled permanently in France, in the Paris region, which she only left in 2013 to move to the French province. She is no stranger to engaged subjects, but her paintings are dominated primarily by the search for beauty and joy of life in the smallest crumbs of everyday life - the charm of a bouquet of flowers, the idyllic landscape of the surrounding fields: "those extraordinary sunsets, those valleys, those fields before harvest, the morning mist, the field flowers, the flowers from the garden.... How not to be carried away by this beauty.... You should have taken paintbrushes in hand!"
