On letterhead 'Gouvernement General de l'Indo-Chine ... Tonkin." French text on 2 pages, 2 blank pages follow. Handwriting in cursive, brown ink. Date at head "Hanoi 27 Novbre 1902"; signature on page 2 'Lafrique Administrateur'. With envelope headed "Exposition de Hanoi en 1902," traveled. Good conservation. Concerns the 'Exposition de Hanoi', November 3, 1902-January 31, 1903, of which Lafrique, a French government official in the colony, had been one of the organizers. Feuillet had sent some of his paintings: "...je le plaisir de vous announcer que votre belle exposition est arrive en excellent eta a Hanoi et orne dignement le coquet pavillon de la Presse. Recevez tous nos compliments. "Armand Lafrique, 1858-1911, poet, playwright, composer and singer, was Administrator of the French State, Vice-resident in Annam and Tonkin, Member of the Commercial Geographical Society of Paris. Maurice Alexandre Albert Feuillet, 1873-1968, French painter, designer, illustrator and journalist, founder of Le Figaro Artistique, was also an important art critic. Along with: 2. Hanoi, March 6, 1903. Bifolio measuring 214x133 mm. On letterhead 'Gouvernement General de l'Indo-Chine ... Tonkin." Text in French on 4 pages. Handwriting in cursive, brown ink. Date at head 'Hanoi 6 Mars 1903'; signature on page 4 'Lafrique Administrateur'. With envelope headed "Residence Superieure du Tonkin," traveled. Good preservation. Feuillet's paintings are to be sent back to France: "Un des chefs surveillera lui-meme l'emballage et expedition de vos tableaux ... Les delegues des Societes françaises des Beaux-Arts ont ete tres severes (pour ne pas dire plus) ..." The letter concludes with a news item with a reference to Pasteur: "Le pauvre ami et sa femme suivent depuis 3 jours le tratitemente antirabique. Ils on tete mordus par un chien enrage. En ce moment 29 personnes don't 16 Europeens suivent le traitement Pasteur a Hannoi.
