Artist's note: proper name Eduardo Luigi Paolozzi, Scottish graphic artist and sculptor (1924 Leith - 2005 London), son of Italian immigrants, 1945-47 studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London, went to Paris for two years in 1947 and briefly studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Art, from 1949 lecturer at the Central School of Arts and Crafts and from 1955-1958 he taught sculpture at Martin's School of Art, from 1952 member of the Independent Group, 1959, 1964, 1968 and 1977 participation in the documenten in Kassel, 1960 participation in the XXX. Biennale in Venice, 1960-62 visiting professor at the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts, 1968 solo exhibition at the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, from 1979 member of the Royal Academy of Arts, 1981 to 1989 professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, 1989 knighted by Queen Elizabeth II, 1994 exhibition in the Yorckshire Sculpture Park, 1994 acquisition of a large part of his work by the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, 2001 stroke and as a result confined to a wheelchair.
