CRUCIFIX, 17TH CENTURY. Embossed silvery metal on ebonised wood. Depicting the iconography of Arma Christi. At the top is a rooster, representing the one that crowed after the third time St. Peter denied Jesus, on the pillar where Jesus was ordered to be scourged. On the left arm is a hand, which refers to the priest of the religious tribunal who struck Jesus after he was considered a blasphemer. On the other side, a tankard is depicted, referring to the jar containing the gall and vinegar that Jesus was given to drink. At the ends of the crossbar there is a sun and a moon, symbolizing the total eclipse of the sun that took place after Jesus' death. Below the feet of crucified Jesus, the three dice with which the soldiers cast lots for Jesus' garments. Below, the shroud that was used to wrap Jesus' body and bury him, and finally, the skull symbolising Adam's redemption. 22 x 9 x 1 cm.
