ANTONI PONS I CIRAC (1921-1998). UNTITLED. Carved glass. Framed. Signed. Born in Maella (Zaragoza) and known as the Artist of glass or the Angel of glass, together with his brother he founded the glass company "Pons Germans". The technique used in his carving works has earned him the name of "bas-relief sculptor". Several Spanish and foreign museums have works by him. We recommend consulting the Pons Cirac Museum and the Pons Cirac room of Vallhonrat Ethnographic Museum, in Rubí (Barcelona) and the film Les mans de Pons Cirac (1967). 15.5 x 23.2 cm (unframed).

Artist information: English landscape painter, graphic artist and watercolourist (1812 Greenwich to 1908 Great Missenden), apprenticed to the painter Coply Fielding, 1825-27 apprenticed to Thales and Theodor Fielding, worked as an engraver in Paris from 1929, art teacher to the family of King Louis-Philippe I from 1831, returned to London in 1841 and admitted to the Royal Watercolour Society, moved to Buckinghamshire in 1855, numerous study trips to various European countries, source: Thieme-Becker and Wikipedia.

ANTONIO ESTRUCH Y BROS (Sabadell, 1873- Buenos Aires, 1957). "Around Nemi, Rome", 1897. Oil on panel. Signed and dated in the lower left corner. Measurements: 27 x 35 cm; 37 x 45 cm (frame). Antonio Estruch y Bros was one of the most outstanding representatives of the Catalan history painting with works like "Corpus de Sang" -1907-, that represents the episode that initiated the uprising of the Catalans of 1640 and "The eleventh of September of 1714". He was a disciple of the Catalan painter Joan Vila i Cinca (co-founder of the Academy of Fine Arts of Sabadell in 1876). He studied the art of stained glass in Germany. He was awarded a scholarship to the Royal Academy of San Fernando (1892) and the Spanish Academy in Rome (1894-96), after which he went to Palestine to paint a series on the life of Jesus commissioned by Ponsà. In 1910 he moved to Buenos Aires. His work is currently on display at the Museum of Sabadell and the Victor Balaguer Library-Museum.
