A PAIR OF CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE OGEE BOWLS, QING DYNASTY (1644–1911) Each bowl is decorated in cobalt blue with lotus fillet scrolls amongst foliage and under a ribboned band of the eight Buddhist emblems. The bottom with a Chinese Guangxu six character mark. Diameter: 11.4 cm.

The bowl and cover each finely painted in polychrome enamels, gilt, and iron-red, with blossoming branches of peonies, chrysanthemums, and other auspicious flowers, one branch suspending a small ornament, the reverse with a flying bat carrying a swastika emblem in its’ mouth, all framed by a band of ruyi above and a lappet border below. The bowl and cover with an iron-red six-character Guangxu mark probably of the period. Provenance: German private collection. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, little rubbing and flaking to the enamels and gilt. Weight: 165 g Dimensions: Diameter 10.9 cm

The bowl finely potted with deep walls supported on a straight foot, the exterior painted in iron-red and gilt with crashing waves and rocks encircling the foot, a row of swastika symbols tied to ribbons floating above. The recessed foot with a cobalt-blue six-character Guangxu mark and probably of the period. Provenance: German private collection.
