SANDIER Alexandre (1843-1916) - SEVRES (Manufacture Nationale) Large "Marlotte B" model vase with swollen base and long pinched neck in midnight-blue enameled porcelain with gold filleted highlights on the foot and lip. Triangular stamp "S/ 1909" under the base. Made in 1908 and decorated in 1909 (Wear). Height Height : 51.8 cm Manufacture de Sèvres certificate dated February 1993. A pupil of Charles Laisné, Alexandre Sandier began his career in New York as an architect-decorator, before returning to Paris in 1882. He was appointed artistic director at Sèvres in 1897, a position he held until his death in 1916. In this capacity, he helped introduce Art Nouveau into Sèvres porcelain. He authorized the manufacture of over 130 models of all shapes and sizes, and established a new range of colors.
