Uniforms - LALAISSE (Hippolyte). French Empire. The Army and Imperial Guard. Paris, (Maison Martinet), Hautecœur frères, sd (1853-1866). In-4 of [1]-30 lithographed and colored plates, green percaline, title and large arms of Empire stamped and gilt on the first cover, gilt edges (publisher's binding). Scattered foxing. Rare. A second part, also with 30 plates, was published in 1866. A very fine work, accurately depicting Second Empire army uniforms, lithographed by Villain and Godard (Colas, 1734.)

Uniforms - LAMI (Eugène) & VERNET (Horace). Collection of French army uniforms from 1791 to 1814, drawn by H. Vernet and Eug. Lami. Paris, Gide Fils, 1822. In-4, [4]-XV-[170]-12-[4] pp. 100 lithographed and colored plates, half brown morocco with corners, spine ribbed and decorated with gilt garlands and cold fleurons (later binding). Spine faded. Joints, headpieces and corners rubbed. Upper spine fragile. Heavy foxing to text, plates often spared. Pages 5 to 8 on Condé's army are missing. Magnificent suite of uniforms from the Revolution and Empire. The second part of the collection, published in 1825, covering the period from 1814 to 1824, is not included. (Colas, 2987 to 2989.)

Uniforms - PHILIPPOTEAUX (Félix). The French Army. [Paris], [Barbier], [1850]. In-8, red half-maroquin with corners, smooth spine decorated throughout, gilt head, untrimmed (period binding by Allo). Very interesting suite comprising the title and 126 color plates engraved by Léopold Deghouy, entirely mounted on tabs, giving a retrospective of war dress and uniforms of the French army from the Franks to 1850. A good copy.

In-4 of [6] ff. 337 pp. [2] ff. Brown calf, ornate ribbed spine, red mar. t.p., gilt arms in center of boards, red speckled boards (period binding). Covers and corners restored. Unique edition of this ecclesiastical monograph on the Capetian and Merovingian kings by Louis Archon (1645-1717), canon of Riom, who had obtained a position as chaplain to the king through the mediation of Cardinal de Bouillon. A second part appeared in 1711, devoted to the Capetians. A copy bearing the arms of the Dukes of LUYNES, with the gilded arms embossed on the boards (OHR 1846-2) and an ex-libris vignette of the Château de Dampierre on the flyleaf.
