Description

Jacques ANQUETIL (1934-1987). Exceptional bike from the hour record attempt at Milan's Vigorelli Velodrome on October 22, 1955. After a fast start, he fell short of Fausto Coppi's record and failed at 623 meters. In the spring of 1956, he prepared another successful attempt on June 29, 1956, finishing 88 meters ahead of the record, covering 46 km 159 in an hour. Handcrafted frame under the brand name "La Perle". Equipped with Reynolds 501, prepared by André Boucher, his technical advisor. Seat tube and hoses are not original. In good condition. A set of 8 original captioned press photos and 7 period newspapers reporting the event are included (from André Boucher). Museum piece.
