By a jurisconsult who contributed to the drafting of the code. Paris, Firmin Didot, An XIII. = 1805. 8 volumes. 9.5 by 16 cm. Contemporary full shagreen basane, ornate smooth spines. 4 volumes with a few wormholes on the spines, slight spotting, one upper headband frayed, otherwise a very good copy. First edition. Dramard, Bibliographie raisonnée du droit civil 75; Camus et Dupin 1859. The only complete edition (cf. Camus and Dupin) of an important text for understanding the development of the Napoleonic Code.

(faux-titres and titles of volumes 2 and 3). Contemporary fawn half-basane, spines decorated. Volume 1 covers stained, corners dulled. Ink stains on 3 ff. (not serious), a few freckles. A very decent copy. -²²²²² First edition. Guido Alfa, Le Code civil et l'Italie. Revue internationale de droit comparé, 2005, pp. 571-625. "The Civil Code, translated into Italian in 1806, came into force in the regions making up the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy. By express legal prescription (royal decree of November 15, 1818), the Italian version was introduced into universities and high schools in this edition, which provides a comparison with Roman law." (G. Alfa). After the fall of Napoleon, this Civil Code remained in force in certain Italian regions until 1837.

Some foxing, bindings often faded. An important collection corresponding to the second phase in the development of the various Napoleonic codes (details on request). A copy of the Marquis Adolphe-François-René de Portes (1790-1852), maître des requêtes at the Conseil d'Etat, then rallied Legitimist deputy, and finally Pair de France, with his name pushed to the tail of the spines of the bound volumes.
