A FOUR PANEL WOOD TABLE SCREEN WITH PORCELAIN INSETS, LATE QING TO REPUBLIC A FOUR PANEL WOOD TABLE SCREEN WITH PORCELAIN INSETS, LATE QING TO REPUBLIC China, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) to Republic period (1912-1949). Each panel set with a porcelain tile finely painted in polychrome enamels with scholars engaged in domestic activities and carrying out their duties, portrayed within rooms decorated with auspicious objects and with a view of the outside world. The plaques are mounted on to wood frames carved with flowers like peony, prunus, and chrysanthemum within rounded rectangular reserves, and fitted with metal fittings. Provenance: From a private collection in Zagreb, Croatia. Condition: With minor wear and manufacturing irregularities. Few nicks, light scratches, small age cracks, minuscule losses, and loose fittings. Hinges loose on one joint. One porcelain inset broken with expected losses. The screen divided in two halves. Dimensions: 59 x 64 cm (frame), 20.5 x 13 cm (tile)
