[Brittany] Two leaflets on the town of CARHAIX: A l'Assemblée nationale: Observations du district de Carhaix, sur l'établissement du chef-lieu du département du Finistère. S.l. (Carhaix?), Gueffier, rue Git-le-coeur. S.d. (circa 1790). One fascicle. 20.5 by 23.5 cm. Paperback, 18 pages. With handwritten corrections, suggesting that this document is a printing before corrections. This is a memoir defending Carhaix's candidacy to become the capital of the newly-created Finistère department, rather than Landerneau or Quimper... It is signed by all the municipal officers and notables of Carhaix. With KERAMPUIL (Henry de): Mémoire pour la ville de Carhaix. Morlaix, Lédan, March 15, 1818. One fascicle. 21 by 27.5 cm. 22 pages on bluish paper. The mayor of Carhaix, Henry de Kerampuil, defends his town for the status of sous-préfecture, then located in Châteaulin. Two rare documents A few old documents bound in Carhaix are enclosed, including a copy of a 1680 deed made in pluviose an 9 (February 1801).

Journal "La Chanson illustrée", published 1869-1970 and containing a total of 78 issues. Very rare collection of the first 70 issues, each issue running to 4 pages with a color illustration on the first page. The editor-in-chief was Alexandre Flan. The first 40 issues make up the first year, and the last 38 the second. Despite its great success, the journal disappeared after Flan's suicide in September 1870. N°36 incomplete (large tear with missing first leaf). Rare.

Arturo Toscanini Signed Photograph Italian-born conductor (1867-1957) widely regarded as one of the greatest figures ever to ascend the podium. Appealing vintage glossy 6.5 x 7.25 photo of the celebrated conductor, signed and inscribed in white fountain pen, “To Francis Robinson, very cordially, Arturo Toscanini." Archivally matted and framed to an overall size of 12.75 x 13.5. In very good to fine condition, with scattered crazing to the emulsion.
