Friedrich August II. von Sachsen (1797-1854). Dresden. 19th century Date: c. 1820 Description: In the foreground, a goat climbs through the shallow water of the stream, next to it another one rests on the bank. On the left is a gnarled, tall tree. A few pollarded willows line the bank at the far right, with a few houses appearing behind them. Enfantin probably made this etching during his stay in Italy between 1825 and 1827. In Rome, he was in contact with artists such as François-Edouard Bertin and Camille Corot. He died in Naples in 1827 at the age of 34.
