AN INSCRIBED WOOD TONKOTSU (TOBACCO BOX) IN THE FORM OF A MOKUGYO AN INSCRIBED WOOD TONKOTSU (TOBACCO BOX) IN THE FORM OF A MOKUGYO Inscribed Tenkodo saku Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912) Carved in the form of a mokugyo (temple bell) showing neatly incised confronting dragon handles with a tama in their mouths, with neatly incised scales and eyes inlaid in metal. Linked to a cord with bone beads and a wood skull netsuke. The interior of the lid incised with a four-character studio mark Tenkodo saku 天光堂作. HEIGHT 7.5 cm Condition: Good condition with minor wear, traces of use, and one insect hole running diagonally through the tonkotsu.
