Circa 1860. H.25 L.18,5. Etienne CARJAT produced numerous portraits of artists and personalities of the Arts and Letters in his studio, which opened in 1860. Although we know of a few portraits of the great painter MANET, including one by NADAR, CARJAT's work is virtually unknown.
