MARINETTI Filippo Tommaso (1876 - 1944) MARINETTI Filippo Tommaso (1876 - 1944) LITERATURE - MARINETTI Filippo Tommaso (1876 - 1944) - Autograph letter signed Autograph letter signed, postmarked “1917” by by the Italian poet, founder of the Futurist movement. Marinetti is best known as the author of the Manifesto of Futurism, which was written and published in 1909. Addressed to the futurist painter and poet Luciano De Nardis (1895 - 1959). While at the war front as Lieutenant Territorial of the 8th Militia of Armoured Car Squadron, Marinetti writes to his fellow friend and artist: “…sono tornato al fronte. Le automitragliatrici blindate sono veramente futuriste potenti armate veloci. Viva l’Italiaaa! Mort aux boches!…Tutti pronti per la più grande vittoria che deve aprire il varco a tutte le nostre idee! Desidero rivederti. Parlarti. Preparo manifestazione futuriste a Roma per l’inverno prossimo. Le tue tavole parolibere sono importantissime. Non pensare ad altro. Lavora!…”. 3 pp. In-8. Large Art Deco screen 1930s, three-panelled screen, veneered in mahogany and walnut, the outer sides finely inlaid with various allegories of hunting, war equipment and seafaring, each in various precious woods (bird's-eye maple, thuja root, elm and plum), above a narrow inlaid band with various wild animals, good condition, dimensions 217 x 213 cm.
