Switzerland - COXE (William). Voyage en Suisse. Paris, Letellier, 1790. 3 vol. in-8 blond basane, smooth spine (period binding). Bindings heavily rubbed and worn. Rare first edition of the translation, published the same year as the English original, written in the form of 90 letters (6 of which are dedicated to Chamonix and its region). It is illustrated with 2 large folding maps (Brunet reports only one) and 5 folding engraved plates. With, at the end of the 3rd volume, a "Faunula Helvetica" or catalog raisonné of the quadrupeds, birds, amphibians, fish and testaceous animals of Switzerland, classified according to Linné's system (74 pp.) and, at the end of the 2nd volume, a Catalogue of the principal works consulted by the author before publishing this work (9 pp.).
