Full black morocco, boards mosaicked with large emerald-green box scrolls dotted with undulating silver fillets evoking tree branches, black suede spine boards and endpapers, silver edges, in black half-maroquin banded folder with fine black leather overlay, boards decorated with grey-toned striped paper, smooth spine, silver title on spine, in lined slipcase. Binding signed Creuzevault. Perfect condition. 57 color woodcuts in register, including 1 on the cover and 4 off-text, the others in-text of varying dimensions. Edition of 275 numbered copies, including 25 hors commerce, all signed by the artist and initialed by the publisher. One of the 50 first copies on Rives vellum (n°3) accompanied by a color suite of the 57 illustrations on Montval laid paper. Henri CREUZEVAULT (1905-1971) was a bookbinder (and son of a bookbinder) and publisher. Strongly influenced by Sarn, he produced two editions, the first illustrated by Hermine David, and the more convincing one by Raymond OUDOT. A splendid edition, in an exceptional binding. Some discreet rubbing on the upper board, otherwise very good condition of the binding, and excellent condition inside. The most sought-after of DREVET's works. It is illustrated with 20 etchings and 300 pen and pencil drawings. A great classic for visiting the LYON of the Ancien Régime... First edition. This is one of the numbered copies on white vellum (N°392), in a fine binding.
