Art Nouveau collection of 12 original illustration designs by various artists for the magazine "Jugend". Early 20th century. Various techniques: predominantly pen and ink drawings, partly colored. Sheet dimensions from approx. 19 x 15 cm to 32 x 25 cm. Each signed or monogrammed. Mostly mounted on support and under passepartout. Includes works by Alexander Sandor von Kubinyi (2), Julius von Szeremley, Josef Nikolaus Geis (4), Arpad Schmidhammer (?, monogrammed "AP"), Paula Cäcilie Schmidt-Goy, Friedrich Heubner (2) and Franz Lauterer. - Published from 1896 to 1940, "Jugend - Münchner illustrierte Wochenschrift für Kunst und Leben" gave its name to the art movement of Art Nouveau. However, other styles such as Impressionism and Art Deco also had an influence on the appearance of the magazine. As the present collection shows, the illustrations were characterized by a satirical and culturally critical tone. - Partly atelier-marked and with traces of use and soiling. Some pages with annotations in manuscript. Passepartouts soiled and partly with defects. Interesting collection from an artistic and historical point of view.
