DUBOIS (Alphonse): Synopsis avium. New ornithology manual. Bruxelles, H. Lamertin, 1902-1904. 2 parts in 2 volumes. 18 by 28 cm. Continuous pagination of XV-(1)-1339 pages + 16 color plates + IX-(1) pp. (faux-titre, title, afterword and table). Contemporary half-percaline bradel, red basane titles on spines, covers preserved. Delivery plates (17 in all) are bound at the end of each volume. The two general covers and their spines have also been preserved. Very good condition (two corner leaves restored, without missing, at the end of volume 2). Important work for determining all known birds, by Belgian naturalist A. Dubois (1839-1920). It is illustrated with 16 beautiful color hors-texte plates, based on the author's drawings, depicting different kinds of birds. Fasc. XV and XVI-XVII contain "tables of genera" and "alphabetical tables of species and systematic tables of orders and families". C.A. Contemporary half brown basane, 4 ribbed spine. Some rubbing to binding, two small tears in margins. Good condition. One of 350 numbered copies on vergé (the only suitable paper) (N°71). One of the versions of this classic curiosa, here illustrated with reproductions by several engravers (Von Bayros, Willette, Van Maele, etc.), in very different styles, but each in harmony with the poems they illustrate.

Ten engravings by Rémi CHAMPSEIT. [Dijon], Balbec "lettrines", 1989. One volume. 28 by 38 cm. In sheets under illustrated and filled cover. Mint condition. One of the copies on Rives vellum, the only paper (legal printer's deposit copy"!) signed by the artist. Total limited edition of 105 copies. With ROY (Jules): Cinq poèmes. Illustrations by Georges HOSOTTE. Avallon, Voillot, 1991. One volume. 25 by 33 cm. In sheets, with printed cover. Mint condition. One of the unjustified copies on arches vellum (the only paper).
