Indian art Sandstone stele depicting of Shiva.Central India.12th cent. . . 128x49 cm. The rectangular-shaped stele is carved in high relief with Shiva standing in tribhanga on a soberly shaped pedestal, the foreground hands holding akshamala and kalasha while the upper hands hold trisula and naga. The sinuous body is covered by a dhoti decorated with tassels and jewels. The face with a suave expression features large almond-shaped eyes, elongated earlobes support large earrings, and the face is framed by the beautiful jatamakuta hairstyle. At the feet of the deity the faithful bull and a devoted worshipper.Provenance: Italian private collection. Purchased from Christie's Amsterdam ref Live Auction 2687, 18-Apr-2005 Lot No. 48. Buyer's premium
The hammer price of an item is increased by 29% to the buyer, to include buyer's premium and VAT. Capitoliumart offers also an online bidding service via the-saleroom.com for bidders who cannot attend the sale. Please note that any lots purchased via the-saleroom.com live auction service will be subject to an additional 3% commission charge + VAT at the rate imposed on the hammer price.

Antique items declared of significant interest under art. 6 of Legislative Decree 29/10/99 no.490 are indicated as such in the catalogue or announced during the sale. On such items, the Italian State may exercise the right of first refusal within 60 days of the sale notice; the sale, therefore, will only take place after the deadline has passed. In the event that the right of first refusal being exercised, the bidder will be entitled to reimbursement of any amounts already paid.
Security deposit
For new customers the auction house may require the payment of a security deposit in order to participate to the sales. This deposit must be paid in the forms of payment allowed by the general terms and conditions, in the cases and in the amounts determined by the Auction House.

Payments for items purchased must be made no later than 5 working days from the date of the auction. In completing the bidder registration on https://the-saleroom.com and providing your credit card details and unless alternative arrangements are agreed with Capitoliumart: 1. authorise Capitoliumart, if they so wish, to charge the credit card given in part or full payment, including all fees, for items successfully purchased in the auction via the-saleroom.com, and 2. confirm that you are authorised to provide these credit card details to Capitoliumart through https://the-saleroom.com and agree that Capitoliumart is entitled to ship the goods to the card holder name and card holder address provided in fulfilment of the sale.
Deferred payments
For purchases with a minimum €5,000.00 hammer price, auction fees excluded (for each individual auction, where more than one item is purchased), a deferred payment service is provided interest-free, with 5 monthly installments and immediate payment of the auction fees and first installment of the hammer price.
