Rare first edition of this important survey of the 1834 Industrial Exhibition, which far surpassed the 1827 event in importance. "French industry also felt strengthened; new factories were springing up on all sides; the spirit of emulation was developing; new arts were being born" Blanqui in Coquelin-Guillaumin, Dictionnaire de l'Economie politique, I, 746. Flachet describes the objects and machines on display at the Place de la Concorde as a connoisseur; he regrets that the Exhibition lacked the character of morality and utility demanded by the progress of ideas and morals. The work is adorned with a handsome engraved title and 38 line-engraved plates by Jacob Petit, Gérard, Bury, Euder, etc., depicting the products and machines on display.
