A correct map of the town of Kilalton, belonging to George Nesbitt esq[uire], Woodhill ; held by Mr. Abraham Creighton survey'd in the year 1797 by James Carney land surveyor. Sl, sd [1797]). Folio map (36 x 46 cm), sheet in modern frame. Paper loss at bottom center of map, with repair. Very fine parcel survey map in ink and watercolor of the Kilalton estate, the exact location of which is unclear (perhaps in County Mayo in Ireland (province of Connacht), with the presence of the vilalge of Ballycroy).

TESSEREAU (Abraham). Chronological history of the Grand Chancellery of France. [Paris, Pierre Le Petit, 1676. In-folio, [4] ff, 686 pp, [30] ff. Brown basane, spine ribbed and decorated, gilded arms in the center of the boards, spotted red (period binding). Covers trimmed, corners dulled. First edition. Born in La Rochelle, secretary to the king, forced to sell his office because he was Protestant, retired to London in 1683, Tessereau wrote this history and continued it on his own until 1679 (he died in 1689): the Chancellor ordered the syndic of the king's secretaries, René Le Conte, to continue it until 1706, which gave rise to a second edition. A copy bearing the coat of arms of François Brunet de MONTFERRAND (1646-1696), president of the Chambre des Comptes de Paris, and a great bibliophile (O.H.R. 1743). Signed letter from the author to Monsieur Brunet... (There is no need to stress the rarity of autograph letters on seventeenth-century books). Gilded PS numeral on spandrels (Collège de Plessis-Sorbonne?, cf. OHR 1965).
