Unsigned - Düsseldorf School - 2nd half 19th century. Century, attributed to Seibels, Karl (1844-1877), "Vollmondnacht an der Küste", oil/canvas, romantic night piece with people, a lighthouse on a coastal landscape and sailing boats off the coast, romantic landscape painting in the manner of Felix Kreutzer (1835-1876) and Karl Adloff (1819-1863), both painters of the Düsseldorf Academy, who worked in this genre and created similar paintings, unsigned, inscribed on the reverse of the stretcher, Karl Seibels, during his stay in the Netherlands with Anton Mauve in 1874, the lunar landscape could have been created, minimal traces of age, canvas with small adhesive tape on the reverse, restored, approx. 34x47cm, frame rubbed ca. 49x612,5cm), Seibels was a painter born in Cologne, studied art at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, 1863 pupil in the landscape class of Oswald Achenbach, he traveled to Paris with Theodor Hagen in 1867 and absorbed impressions of the open-air painting of the Barbizon school, especially Constant Troyon, and thus became a German representative of the Paysage intime, from 1869 to 1875 he was a member of the artists' association Malkasten, in 1874 he stayed with Gregor von Bochmann in the Netherlands with Anton Mauve
