Unsigned - 18. 18th century, "Erminia with the Shepherds", oil/canvas, mythological depiction, Erminia, daughter of the king of Antioch, has escaped her persecutors and asks a peaceful shepherd family for shelter, the scene is based on Torquato Tasso's epic poem 'Jerusalem Liberated' (1574), this story was a popular theme in the Baroque period and was depicted by many painters such as Paolo De Matteis (1662 - 1723), Domenico Zampieri 1581-1641, it was depicted until the 19th century by Delacroix, for example.It was repeatedly thematized by Delacroix (1798 - 1863), unsigned, craquelure, damaged canvas, mended, ca. 87x162cm, frame bumped and rubbed ca. 105,5x181cm
