Hess, J. - Hess, Julius, 1878 Stuttgart - 1957 Pöcking near Starnberg, "Obststillleben mit Blumenstrauß", oil/canvas, signed upper right, accentuated painting style, use of strong and bright colors, his painting style refers to modernism, good condition, approx. 49x40cm, frame approx. 63,5x54cm. Hess studied in Stuttgart and Munich (under M. Meinhold and R. Herterich), he traveled to France, Spain, Florence, from 1927 to 1946 Julius Hess was a full professor of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich, in his master class from 1935 were the painter Karoline Wittmann (1913-1978), Luise Niedermaier (1908-1997), Gabriele Thiersch (1920-2000), Irma Hünerfauth (1907-1998), Marianne Henselmann (1902-2002), he created portraits, landscapes and still lifes of independent coloring, he participated in exhibitions of the secessions in Munich and Berlin, he was rightly known for his still lifes, according to the art historian Matthias Arnold, his painting style is strongly influenced by Paul Cézanne.
