Glückert, Johannes - 1868 Mainz - after 1918, "Windmühle bei Dodrecht", oil/wood, partly strong impasto application of paint, picturesque landscape scene at the river with staffage of people and houses in Holland, signed and inscr. on the right, inscribed on the reverse, craquelure, c. 42x31cm, slightly dam. on the frame, c. 56x45cm. German landscape painter of the Düsseldorf school, Glückert received artistic training at the Grand Ducal School of Art in Karlsruhe, afterwards he worked as a landscape painter in Düsseldorf and Eppstein, his oeuvre mainly shows landscapes from central and southern Germany, especially from the Taunus, the Eifel and the Black Forest, from the Moselle, the Rhine and Lake Constance, the titles of his paintings suggest that he also traveled to the French Alps and the Netherlands.
