Blunck then studied painting and architecture, first in Hamburg and at the Kunstgewerbeschule Wien and then as a pupil of Anton von Werner at the Berlin Kunstakademie, after teaching in Hamburg he returned to Berlin and became a teacher at the municipal crafts school, later at the municipal Kunstgewerbeschule and director of its branch in Berlin-Kreuzberg, in addition to his teaching activities Blunck produced works as a painter, draughtsman and architect.
