Gustavo Fernández was trained in drawing, woodcut and ceramics at the Barradas workshop under Salomón Azar and in archaeology at the Centro de Estudios de Ciencias Naturales of Francisco Oliveras. Also in the field of gobelin tapestry and hand made with the tapestry maker and designer Carlos Bermudez and in metal engraving with David Finkbeiner. Throughout his career he has exhibited in galleries in Brazil, Uruguay, Germany, Chile and Panama.
