LLUÍS TERRICABRAS (Manlleu, 1918- Mataró, 2000). "Sant Jordi". Metal sculpture on wooden base. Signed. Measurements: 40 x 9 x 5 cm (figure); 2,5 x 13 x 13 cm (diameter). Cultural promoter and writer, Lluís Terricabras participated during the 30's in the libertarian and literary environment of the republican Catalonia. In 1937 he was recruited to fight in the Spanish Civil War and sent to the front of Teruel. But he was taken prisoner in the concentration camps of Morella, Leon and Camposancos and worked as a prisoner in the Italian Air Force. In 1939 he was court-martialed as a separatist and imprisoned in the Model Prison of Barcelona until 1942. When he was released from prison he returned to Mataró, where in 1949 he founded the Racó , where he organized conferences and collaborated in the revival of Catalan culture.
