August Fink, Bauernhof bei Lenggries A farmhouse situated between meadows and trees along a path, with the misty mountains of the Alpine foothills in the background, slightly impasto landscape painting in fresh colours, oil on canvas, late 19th century, inscribed "Lenggries" and signed "Fink" lower right, minor retouching, gilt stucco frame with metal label "August Fink 1846-1916", folded dimensions approx. 67 x 53.5 cm. Artist information: German landscape painter (1846 Munich to 1916 Munich), initially active as a merchant, pupil of Adolf Stademann and Eduard Schleich the Elder, from 1872 pupil of Adolf Heinrich Lier, later joined Josef Wenglein, active in Munich from 1874, represented at art exhibitions in Düsseldorf, Nuremberg, Munich (Glaspalast) and Berlin, paintings owned by the Neue Pinakothek Munich, Kunstsammlungen Nürnberg and the Bavarian Royal House, created ceiling scenes for the "Hellblauer Saal" in Herren-Chiemsee Palace, famous for his autumn and winter landscapes, source: Thieme-Becker und Vollmer.
